I have bought the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go 64GB twice, and that tells you most of what you need to know. Nobody buys the same flash drive a second time out of boredom.

Here is the short version. It is a tiny flash drive with a USB-C plug on one end and a USB-A plug on the other, it actually fits into my phone, it moves files fast, and it costs about twenty bucks. My only real complaint is that it is so small I lost the first one.

Flash drives are not exciting. But the right one saves you a pile of annoyance, and the wrong one is a chunky plastic brick that will not even plug into your phone. If you are trying to decide whether this is the right one, I looked at the questions people keep asking about the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go and answered them below, along with what I have seen using mine.

The Experience

Let’s start with the specs, because 64GB on a drive this size is kind of insane. When I checked, the Amazon listing had it at $21.45 with a 4.6 star average across more than 15,000 ratings. It has USB-C on one end, USB-A on the other, and the body swivels so the plug you are not using stays covered.

The number one reason I like this drive is the fit. I own other flash drives with the same USB and USB-C ports, and they will not go into my phone. The body is too big and it will not seat in the port. This one fits perfectly.

That makes moving files off my phone easy. Plug it into the phone, copy what you need, then plug the other end into my laptop and the files transfer quickly. No cables, no adapters, no cloud upload eating through a data plan.

On speed, this is probably the fastest flash drive I have ever owned, and possibly the fastest piece of hardware I have. Files go on and off of it very quickly. I did not run a benchmark, so I am not going to hand you a made-up number. The listing says up to 300MB/s read speeds. Other retailer pages for different sizes list 150MB/s reads and much slower writes, so treat the big number as a best case.

Now, why did I buy it twice? Because it is very small. My first one was on a lanyard and I still managed to leave it at a friend’s house while visiting. I have not made it back over to get it. Small is the whole selling point, and also the one thing that bit me.

Questions People Ask About the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go

Will the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go fit in my phone?

It fit mine, which is more than I can say for my other drives with the same ports. It is built for USB-C phones, tablets and Macs, plus USB-A computers. A phone with only a Lightning port cannot use it directly, and I have not tested it on an iPhone, so check your port before ordering.

How fast is the SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go?

Fast enough that I noticed right away compared to my older drives. The listing claims up to 300MB/s reads, but writing to flash drives is usually slower than reading, so expect real world numbers below the headline.

Is 64GB enough?

For moving photos, videos and documents between a phone and a laptop, it has been plenty for me. Like any drive, you get a bit less usable space than the label says. One buyer of the 128GB version reported about 114GB usable.

Does it work with laptops, tablets and Macs?

SanDisk sells it for USB-C phones, tablets and Macs, plus any computer with a USB-A port. That covers my phone and laptop with one drive and nothing else to carry.

How do you keep from losing it?

Learn from me. Use the keyring hole and attach a colorful lanyard, and then actually check your pockets before you leave someone’s house. Don’t be like me!

The Verdict

Would I buy it again? I already did. The SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive Go 64GB fits where my other drives will not, it is quick, it takes up no room, and it is cheap. The only sin is that it is easy to lose.

Rating: 9/10, and the missing point is entirely because I misplaced one.

If you move files between a phone and a computer, there is no question that you should get one. You can grab it here. Have you had better luck with a different flash drive, or did you lose one of these too? Tell me in the comments.

I’ve had Rumpl products kicking around for about 10 years. When my brother got me the Backcountry Puffy Blanket for Christmas, I had a pretty good feeling going in. Here’s whether it holds up.

USB-C and USB-A in one tiny drive. It fits my phone when other dual-port drives won’t, and it moves files fast. Just don’t lose it.
